James Ranger is an Associate Fellow at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. He currently serves as a Managing Director in Lloyds Bank’s Commercial Banking Markets Division, leading the Loan and High Yield Capital Markets business. In this role, he supports clients in raising financing and accessing capital markets across the UK, Europe, and the USA. James also chairs Lloyds Bank’s Pricing Panel and sits on the bank’s credit and investment committees.
James holds a degree in Economics and Economic History from the University of Warwick and a Master's in Management from the University of Bath’s School of Management.
His research and professional interests focus on leveraged finance, high yield asset classes, and capital markets. He actively contributes to academic programs at Saïd Business School, supporting Professor Ludovic Phalippou in teaching leveraged finance on the MBA, Executive MBA, and MSc in Financial Economics programs.
James has over 15 years of experience in leveraged finance and has been instrumental in shaping strategic decisions within Lloyds Bank’s financial operations.
