James Pru

Dr. James Pru is a Professor and the Rochelle Chair at the University of Wyoming's Department of Animal Science. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of embryo implantation, non-classical progesterone signaling, and endometrial regeneration in domestic and human reproductive systems.

Dr. Pru's work investigates how progesterone signals via membrane receptors (PGRMC1/2) to regulate fertility, the role of uterine stem cells in tissue regeneration, and molecular dialog between embryos and mothers during implantation. His lab employs transgenic mice, domestic ruminants, and human tissues to model recurrent pregnancy loss and reproductive cancers.

His publications trend toward reproductive biology, endocrinology, and stem cell research, with a focus on AMPK signaling, PGRMC receptor functions, and their implications in endometrial cancer, breast cancer, and infertility. These studies span 2013–2020.
