James Poro

James Poro is an Adjunct Professor at the Stockbridge School of Agriculture, University of Massachusetts Amherst. He serves as the Superintendent of the Joseph Troll Turf Research Center and as an Extension Instructor in Turf Machinery, Irrigation, and Drainage.

• Education: Master of Science (M.S.) from the University of Massachusetts Amherst under Dr. J. Scott Ebdon.

Research Interests: James focuses on water conservation practices in high-maintenance turf, emphasizing the development of evapotranspiration rates. His work bridges practical turf management with scientific research, particularly in irrigation and drainage systems.

Experience: Prior to his academic role, he worked at multiple golf courses in New England, including as Assistant Superintendent at The Quechee Club in Vermont. He integrates hands-on experience with theoretical knowledge in managing the Turf Research Center and teaching.
