James Payne

James Payne is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture at London Metropolitan University’s The Cass faculty, where he has taught since 2008. He specializes in technical subjects for postgraduate programs and has collaborated with Nina Lundvall on design studios across the UK and Sweden. His research focuses on the intersection of furniture and architecture, as well as lightweight and pre-fabricated construction methods.

Payne’s practice, Archipelago, was recognized in the Architecture Foundation’s exchange program with Finland (2013) and featured in the New Architects 3 publication. He has contributed to Phaidon’s 20th and 21st Century Architecture Atlases and curated the Formgivers lecture series, exploring emerging European architectural practices.
