James Olsen

James Olsen is an Affiliated Lecturer in the Faculty of Music at the University of Cambridge and Bye-Fellow at St Catharine's College. His scholarly work integrates music theory, composition, and education, with research interests spanning 18th-century to contemporary music analysis, critical theory, and music pedagogy.

As founder of Olsen Verlag, he develops community music projects bridging classical music with broader audiences. Notable compositions include commemorative works for the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and liturgy pieces for Ely Cathedral. He serves as Widening Participation Officer for the Society for Music Analysis.
