James Nagy is a full Professor in the Department of Physiology & Pathophysiology at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. His research focuses on gap junctions and electrical synapses in the central nervous system, with affiliations to the Spinal Cord Research Center and Division of Neuroscience. He works on molecular regulation of connexin36 and synaptic transmission.
- PhD in Neuroscience, University of British Columbia
- MSc and BSc in Biochemistry, University of British Columbia
- Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Cambridge and University of Toronto
His work explores proteomic and biochemical mechanisms of electrical synapses, their functional roles in neuronal circuits, and implications for spinal cord injury. Collaborations with industry have produced widely used connexin antibodies.
