James N. Jensen is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Engineering Education at the University at Buffalo’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He also holds a Professorship in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering. His research focuses on wastewater treatment, pollutants monitoring, and inclusive sanitation frameworks. He earned his PhD in Environmental Science and Engineering from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (1988), an MSPH from the same institution (1983), and a BS in Engineering and Applied Sciences from the California Institute of Technology (1980).
His recent work addresses aquatic chemistry methodologies, PCB bioremediation, chloramination models, and sanitation equity for people with disabilities. Earlier contributions include studies on hurricane infrastructure impacts and antibiotic resistance in wastewater systems. He has advised numerous projects but no formal student names are listed.
