James Moran

James Moran is an Associate Professor in the Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences at Michigan State University (MSU). He specializes in stable isotope analysis, biogeochemistry, and rhizosphere processes, with expertise in instrument development for environmental and ecological applications.

Education:

• B.A. in Chemistry and Geology, Lawrence University
• Ph.D. in Geosciences, Pennsylvania State University
• Postdoctoral studies at McMaster University

Research Interests: Dr. Moran focuses on nutrient exchange in the rhizosphere, spatial organization of plant-microbial interactions, and advanced isotope measurement techniques like capillary absorption spectroscopy and isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS). His work spans ecology, forensic science, and environmental applications.
