Dr James Mason is a Postdoctoral Researcher at The University of Manchester’s Civil Engineering and Management department, specializing in low-carbon shipping solutions and wind-assist technologies. He holds a PhD from the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research (2021) and a Master’s in Physics from The University of Manchester (2016). His research focuses on optimizing shipping routes using weather data and AI algorithms to reduce carbon emissions, with a particular emphasis on green shipping corridors and short-term mitigation strategies.
He has contributed to over 14 peer-reviewed publications and 3 datasets, including computational models for voyage optimization using Python and C++.
