James Lamont

James Lamont is a Lecturer in the Department of Education at the University of York. He specializes in academic writing, assignment support, and developing critical writing skills for postgraduate students, coordinating the Academic Skills for Education module.

His research interests focus on enhancing academic communication in higher education, particularly through the lenses of English for Academic Purposes (EAP), curriculum design, and critical thinking pedagogy. He actively contributes to the field by presenting at conferences and publishing in journals related to learning development in higher education.

James has extensive international teaching experience, having worked at the University of York's International Pathways College and taught at universities in Japan. He holds a Trinity Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and is a member of the British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes (BALEAP), where he participates in conferences.
