About
James Junxi Liu is a Novo Nordisk Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, with prior experience as a Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol's MRC/IEU. His work focuses on causal relationships between sleep traits and diabetes risk using genomic methods. He is currently investigating type 2 diabetes molecular phenotypes and mechanisms across diverse populations.
Research Interests:
- Genomic approaches to diabetes
- Mendelian randomization studies
- Impact of sleep disorders on glycemic traits
Publications: A 2022 paper in Diabetes Care highlighted insomnia's role in elevated blood sugar levels. Ongoing projects explore accelerometer-derived sleep metrics and nonlinear sleep-duration effects on glycemia.
Awards: Recipient of the Novo Nordisk Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, enabling collaboration with world-leading researchers at Oxford and Novo Nordisk.
Future Work: Collaborating with Prof. Zhengming Chen to analyze genomic data from UK and Chinese populations to uncover diabetes mechanisms.
