About
Dr. James Jewkes is a Lecturer of Industrial Fluid Dynamics at the School of Engineering, University of Leicester. His expertise lies in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and turbulent flow simulations, with a focus on large-eddy simulation (LES), haemodynamics, and high-pressure die casting optimization. He joined the University of Leicester in November 2021 after roles at institutions including Curtin University (Australia), University of South Wales, and Coventry University, alongside industry experience with IBM UK, Prodrive, and TotalSim UK.
Education: He holds a 1st-class MEng in Mechanical Engineering from Warwick University (2002) and a PhD in LES from Warwick (2008), supervised by Prof. Peter Carpenter and Dr. Yongmann Chung.
Research Interests: His work spans turbulent jets, boundary layers, coronary artery haemodynamics, and industrial fluid dynamics optimization. Notable current projects include EPSRC grant EP/V02695X/1 (“Better Bubblers: Jet Impingement Within a Dead-End Channel”).
Grants & Collaborations: He has secured grants as Co-Investigator (CI) from the Australian Research Council and Innovate UK, and currently leads the EPSRC project mentioned above.
