Dr. James Huff is an Associate Professor of Engineering Education at the University of Georgia and Principal Investigator of the Beyond Professional Identity Lab. He serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Engineering Education and Chair of the ASEE Education Research and Methods Division. His research develops qualitative methodologies to understand professional identity formation in engineering contexts.

- Ph.D. in Engineering Education from Purdue University
- M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University
- B.S. from Harding University
His scholarship focuses on career identity development, interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA), and qualitative research methods. Current work examines shame experiences in engineering education and methodological approaches to interview quality enhancement.
