Dr. James Hicks is a Lecturer in Zoology at the School of Environmental and Natural Sciences, Bangor University. He holds a PhD from the University of Nottingham (2019) and an MSc in Zoology with Herpetology from Bangor University (2014). His research focuses on reptile biology, particularly how reptiles adapt to environmental changes and the natural history of Southeast Asian taxa. He previously worked in zookeeping at a BIAZA teaching institution before returning to academia.
Teaching responsibilities include module organization for SNS-0001: Foundation Project and BSX-2028: Introduction to Herpetology, alongside contributions to fieldcourses and climate-related modules. His academic background integrates fieldwork, climate modeling, and conservation strategies for reptiles in oil palm plantations and shifting climatic conditions.
