James Hibbard

James Hibbard is a Lecturer at the Don Wright Faculty of Music, Western University, specializing in piano education and performance. He holds Licentiate and Fellow Diplomas from Trinity College (London, England) and studied under Reginald Bedford, with additional masterclass experiences under Nadia Strycek, Norman Shetler, Balint Vazsonyi, and John Ogdon. His performance career includes recitals of Chopin Etudes in Oregon (U.S.) and Western University on both modern and period pianos.

Hibbard directs music at Calvary United Church in London and performs as part of the Yanchus-Hibbard piano duo with his wife Tina Yanchus. The duo has appeared on CBC Radio's Mostly Music and Arts National, coached chamber music at the Kincardine Summer Music Festival for 11 years, and maintains a large piano studio with over 40 years of teaching experience. They are frequently engaged as music festival adjudicators.
