James Hannam is a Course Leader in Music Industries and a member of the Art and Music Research Group at Solent University. He holds a BA (Hons) Music from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (2001) and an MSc in Education from the University of Southampton (2022). His research focuses on music education, artist management, and funding mechanisms in the music industry. He serves as an External Examiner for music management programs at the University of West London and Leeds Beckett University. Hannam’s work explores topics such as performer revenue models, music curriculum design, and grant funding strategies for artists. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts.
Recent research includes a project investigating school responses to university careers programs (2023). His publications address contemporary challenges in music education funding, artist-management dynamics, and innovative marketing strategies. Teaching responsibilities span copyright law, event management, and finance within the music industries. Advising involves guiding final-year student dissertations and group projects.
