James Furness

James Furness is Associate Professor in Bond University's Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine, leading the Water-based Research Unit studying surfing biomechanics and physiology.

Research examines hydration in surfing populations, injury epidemiology, and wearable technology validation. Collaborates with Surfing Australia to develop evidence-based training protocols and injury prevention frameworks.

Current projects analyze bone density in surfers, shoulder biomechanics, and rehabilitation applications of aquatic exercise. Supervises graduate research on HIIT interventions in cardiac rehabilitation and tendinopathy assessment.
