James Fowler

Dr. James Fowler is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Research, University of Southern Queensland, concurrently completing his PhD in the School of Public Health at the University of Queensland.

His educational background includes:

Dr. Fowler specializes in mixed-methodologies and community-based participatory research addressing health disparities among priority populations, with intensive focus on LGBTQIA+ communities. His work integrates mental, sexual, and physical health domains through intervention design, service evaluation, and implementation science. Key research pillars include psychosocial support for people with Innate Variations of Sex Characteristics, culturally safe care models co-designed with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTQ+ Brotherboy Sistergirl communities, and digital mental health program development. His interdisciplinary approach spans transgender health, health equity, clinical psychology, and digital health innovation.
