James Fisher

James Fisher is a Lecturer at the ANU College of Law specializing in equity, comparative private law, and Japanese legal studies, with secondary research interests in applied jurisprudence, comparative legal theory, law and sexuality, and law and humanities. He previously held academic positions at the University of Tokyo and Sophia University in Japan.

Research Focus: Examines intersections of equity and comparative private law with particular emphasis on Japanese legal systems. Current monograph projects include 'Law and Literature in Japan' and 'Civilising the Trust: The Japanese Trust as Legal Transplant'.
