James DeBoer

James DeBoer is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Music at Hope College, joining in 2004. He directs the Collegium Musicum Vocal Ensemble, teaches education classes in the arts, and leads recruitment efforts. He also founded and directs the Awakening Institute, a Lilly-funded program for high school worship arts leadership.

• Education: B.A. from Calvin College, M.M. from Western Michigan University, postgraduate credits at Westminster Choir College and Stanford University.

His research and practice focus on innovative music education methods, integrating technology into classroom instruction, and fostering worship arts leadership in educational and community settings. His choirs have performed for prominent civic and professional events, including the Vice President of the United States and Major League Sports teams.
