James Currie

James Currie is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Winnipeg. He holds an NSERC Discovery Grant and has held various administrative roles including Dean of Science, Deputy Provost, and currently serves as Vice-President, Academic and Provost. His research focuses on combinatorics on words, pattern avoidance, and quantum computing, with over 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Education: BSc (Hons), MSc, PhD.

Research interests include the study of avoidable/unavoidable regularities in symbol strings, applications to quantum computing, and graph dimension theory. His work introduces methods like the probabilistic method and fixed blocking method, advancing the field's theoretical foundations.
