Jagadish Torlapati

Jagadish Torlapati, Ph.D., is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Rowan University's Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering. His research focuses on contaminant fate and transport, oil spill response, bioremediation, and parallel computing. He holds a Ph.D. from Auburn University, an M.CE. from Auburn University, and a B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

Dr. Torlapati has expertise in engineering education, including developing inclusive curricula and promoting ethical decision-making in design problems. His work integrates computational modeling with environmental challenges, highlighted by projects like Engineers without Borders and the VDROP model for oil droplet formation simulation.

He received the Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (2007) from the Department of Energy. His research has addressed diverse topics including microbial oil biodegradation, shoreline remediation, and parallel computing applications in environmental modeling. He actively contributes to advancing STEM education through industry collaboration and disaster-impacted infrastructure analysis.
