Jade Standing is the George Whalley Visiting Professor in Early Modern Literature at Queen's University (2023–2024). Her research focuses on Shakespeare, the history of ideas, and early modern drama, with a specialization in the interplay between conscience, legal traditions, and theatrical performance. She has published widely on these themes, including her monograph The Play of Conscience in Shakespeare’s England (2023) and an article in Shakespeare Quarterly (2022). Her current projects explore the cultural history of fencing in Elizabethan/Jacobean playhouses and its relationship to theatrical creativity.
