About
Professor Jacqui Shaw holds multiple leadership positions at the University of Leicester as Head of the Department of Genetics and Genome Biology, Co-Director of the Institute for Precision Health, and Professor of Translational Cancer Genetics. Her internationally recognized expertise focuses on developing blood-based 'liquid biopsy' tests for monitoring breast and lung cancers.
Shaw's landmark research demonstrated that blood tests can detect breast cancer recurrence up to two years earlier than conventional methods, contributing to the FDA's 'Breakthrough Device' designation for Natera's Signatera™ test. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she established asymptomatic campus screening using LAMP technology to detect outbreaks.
Her research group specializes in molecular diagnostics for precision oncology, maintaining extensive national and international clinical collaborations to advance cancer monitoring technologies.
