Jacques Leonardi is a Professor of Sustainable Logistics at the University of Westminster, leading the Transport and Mobilities group since 2022. He holds additional roles as External Professor at HEIG-VD (Switzerland), Guest Professor at Mines Paris – PSL, and External Lecturer at EIGSI (France). His career includes 15+ years as Senior Research Fellow at Westminster (2007–2022), and prior roles as Researcher at the French National Institute for Transport and Safety Research (2006–2007), and Advisor to the German Federal Government on environmental policies (1998–2005).
Research focuses on sustainable urban logistics, freight transport decarbonization, and geofencing technologies. Key projects include GeoSence (2024), CIVITAS DESTINATIONS, and CITYLAB (EU-funded initiatives). He has pioneered studies on urban consolidation centers, electric vehicle integration, and carbon footprint methodologies. Teaching includes MSc modules on Freight Transport, Sustainable Supply Chains, and Environmental Logistics.
Consultancy activities span global organizations like OECD, TfL, and the Greater London Authority, with recent advisory roles for China’s Green Urban Logistics Programme (2019–2022) and the SENATOR project (2020–2025). Over 100 peer-reviewed publications and 20+ research reports address urban freight efficiency, policy frameworks, and sustainable procurement strategies.
