Jacob ben Widmar

Jacob ben Widmar serves as Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre at Oakland University's School of Music, Theatre and Dance, bringing over 25 years of professional performance and instructional experience from Broadway, national tours, and institutions like Broadway Dance Center and Florida State University.

Professor ben Widmar's research focuses on the integration of directing and choreography within contemporary Musical Theatre, with particular emphasis on queer reinterpretations of classical works such as his production "Romeo and Julian - A Queer Retelling of a Shakespeare Classic". His practical expertise spans performance techniques, theatrical staging, and cross-disciplinary approaches to musical storytelling.
