Jacob Ford serves as a Lecturer at Baylor University, teaching undergraduate communication courses including Small Group Communication, Communication Training and Development, and Leadership and Communication. His academic journey began at Baylor with undergraduate and master's degrees before completing his doctorate at The University of Texas at Austin, followed by high school teaching experience in Waco that informs his pedagogical approach.
His educational background features a B.A. in Journalism & Classics (2005) and M.A. in Organizational Communication (2011) from Baylor University, and a Ph.D. in Organizational Communication and Technology (2016) from The University of Texas at Austin, where his doctoral research focused on organizational identification and communication.
Dr. Ford's research program investigates the dynamic relationships between work, communication, and career trajectories, with particular emphasis on how communication shapes experiences in volunteer, stigmatized, and entrepreneurial work contexts and subsequently impacts career mobility. His work further explores communication strategies that facilitate successful transitions across jobs, organizations, and geographic regions, aiming to provide practical insights for navigating complex career paths.
His scholarly contributions have been recognized through significant academic honors:
