Jacob Dodd is an Associate Professor in SUNY Oswego's Cinema and Screen Studies Department. His creative scholarship focuses on analog filmmaking, particularly 16mm and 8mm celluloid processes.
He teaches courses including Introduction to Cinema Production, Motion Picture Editing, and Intermediate Production. His 2021 book provides comprehensive guidance on celluloid film techniques, while his experimental films like 'Beyond the Shadows' (2022) and 'Imagining Kerouac' (2022) have screened internationally at festivals including Thomas Edison Film Festival and Peripheries Experimental Film Festival.
He received the Thomas Edison Film Festival Jury's Citation Award (2022) and a Shineman Endowed Fund Grant for media archaeology projects. Current research explores historical film technologies and community-based film preservation.
