Dr. Jackie Bell is an award-winning Senior Teaching Fellow in Equality, Diversity, Outreach and Public Engagement at Imperial College London, with additional appointments as Honorary Fellow at University of Liverpool's Mathematics Department.
She holds a BSc in Mathematics from University of Miami, MSc in Mathematical Sciences, and PhD in Theoretical Particle Physics from Université de la Sorbonne. Her research explores methods for engaging underrepresented groups in STEM, effective science communication, and informal science learning approaches.
Dr. Bell leads national space and physics education programs with organizations including the UK Space Agency and Science and Technology Facilities Council. Her initiatives specifically target marginalized communities to build positive relationships with science and inspire future STEM careers.
Awards include Royal Academy of Engineering funding, President's Leadership Award for Societal Engagement, and multiple Rising Star recognitions for her diversity advocacy. She was a finalist in BBC's 'Astronauts: Do You Have What It Takes?' program.
She directs public engagement programs that translate complex scientific concepts into accessible formats, while advocating for greater representation in STEM fields through school visits, media appearances, and community partnerships.
