Jack Warren

Dr. Jack Warren is a Lecturer in Film and Media Studies at Manchester Metropolitan University's Department of English. His research explores video games, queer play practices, and new materialist philosophies, with specific focus on role-playing mechanics and affective dimensions of gaming. He holds a PhD in Media and Cultural Studies from Manchester Metropolitan University (2023), an MA in Gender, Sexuality, and Culture from the University of Manchester (2017), and a BA(Hons) in History from the University of Manchester (2016).

As Postgraduate Lead for the Manchester Game Centre and Level 4 Stage Tutor, Dr. Warren investigates how gaming interfaces with identity formation and cultural narratives, particularly through the lens of queer theory. His work examines touch mechanics, emotional engagement, and subversive play patterns in digital environments.
