Jack Himelright is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Kansas State University, with prior postdoctoral experience at Tel Aviv University under David Mark Kovacs' metaphysical explanation project. He earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame (2019) and a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Virginia.
Research Focus: Metaphysics, philosophy of science, and logic, particularly defending nominalism by arguing that science does not require abstract objects (mathematical entities, properties, etc.). Additional interests include the status of shape in physics, intersections of ethics, logic, and metaphysics, and deflationary views on metaphysical possibility.
Teaching: Specializes in courses on the ethics of AI and Buddhist philosophy. Organized a panel on data ethics for Kansas State's 'AI and the Future' Symposium.
