Dr Jack Forrester is an Academic Fellow at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Sheffield. He coordinates student-led projects like Sheffield Formula Racing and teaches undergraduate modules EEE228 (Design Project) and EEE229 (Electrical Energy and Conversion).
Qualifications include a
- PhD in Piezoelectric Transformers for Resonant Converter Applications (University of Sheffield, 2021)
- MEng in Electronic and Electrical Engineering (University of Sheffield, 2017)
His research focuses on piezoelectric devices, resonant power conversion, passive component design, FPGA-based control systems, and instrumentation for sporting equipment. He has led EPSRC-funded projects on piezoelectric transformer design and plasma microreactor applications.
Dr Forrester supervises undergraduate and postgraduate projects in power electronics, wireless power transfer, and remote control systems. He currently serves as the electrical academic lead for the Sheffield Formula Racing team, guiding their transition from internal combustion to electric vehicles for the 2026 Formula Student competition.
