Jack B. Harrison serves as the David and Nancy Wolf Chair in Ethics and Professional Identity and Professor of Law at Northern Kentucky University's Salmon P. Chase College of Law. Since joining the faculty in 2011, he has taught Civil Procedure, Torts, Professional Responsibility, and Sexuality, Identity, and the Law. Prior to academia, he practiced law for nearly twenty years, becoming the first openly gay partner at a major Cincinnati law firm and maintaining of-counsel status at Cors & Bassett.
Professor Harrison earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Sacred Theology from St. Mary’s Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
His research focuses on civil procedure, federal courts, and the intersection of law with sexuality and identity. As a leading LGBTQ+ rights scholar, he has pioneered work on transgender legal protections, marriage equality, and employment discrimination. His scholarship consistently bridges doctrinal analysis with social justice advocacy, particularly in professional ethics and diversity initiatives.
Harrison's publications reveal evolving expertise from foundational civil procedure scholarship toward contemporary constitutional battles, especially regarding gender identity and sexual orientation. Recent works critically engage with Supreme Court jurisprudence while advancing procedural mechanisms for equitable justice access.
Honors include the 2023 Gerhardstein and Branch LGBTQ+ Legal Advocacy Award and sustained recognition in The Best Lawyers in America (2010-2023).

Professor Harrison actively shapes legal education through AALS leadership as former Chair of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Issues Section and current Co-Chair of the Aspiring Law Teacher Committee. His bar association service includes Cincinnati Bar Association committees and national speaking engagements on post-Dobbs reproductive rights and LGBTQ+ legal developments.
As the Wolf Chair, he directs comprehensive programs expanding ethical conduct education, student pro bono participation, and institutional diversity training. These initiatives integrate his decades of litigation experience with scholarly rigor to foster socially responsible legal professionals.
