JP Rech is an Assistant Professor of Physical Education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK), affiliated with the Department of Kinesiology and Sport Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Biomechanics & Kinesiology: Physical Activity from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (2023), an M.A.E. in General Physical Education: Recreation & Leisure from UNK (2019), and a B.S. in Exercise Science with a minor in Nutrition from UNK (2016).
His research focuses on physical activity in early childhood settings, strategies for inclusive physical activity environments, and the role of childcare providers and teachers. He employs qualitative and mixed-methods approaches, including systematic reviews and meta-analysis. Rech is also actively involved in community initiatives across Nebraska to promote physical activity and health.
He teaches courses such as Foundations of Instructing Sport & Recreation Concepts, Motor Learning & Development, and Secondary Physical Education Standards. Rech is a former student-athlete at UNK (cross country and track, 2012–2016) and emphasizes leadership development in his teaching philosophy.
