John R. Cox is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Education at Cumberland University, part of The Millard and JJ Oakley School of Humanities, Education and the Arts. He also serves as an Account Executive with Energy Systems Group (ESG). Prior to his current roles, he spent 30 years in K-12 education, culminating as Superintendent of the Warren County School District (TN) from 2012–2020. He has held leadership roles in education policy, including service on state and national committees such as the Tennessee State Board of Education BEP Review Committee and the Tennessee Department of Education Equity Playbook Development Team.
