JAVIER ANGEL GUITIAN RIVERA

Javier Angel Guitián Rivera is a Researcher in the Department of Botany at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Santiago de Compostela. He holds a PhD (1984) focused on herbaceous vegetation studies in Sierra del Caurel, Lugo. His research groups include ACBiodiv (Biodiversity Analysis and Conservation) and EcoEvoPlantas (Evolutionary Ecology of Plants).

Research Interests: His work spans plant reproductive biology, pollination ecology, biodiversity conservation, and evolutionary mechanisms. Key areas include flower color polymorphism in Gentiana lutea, seed dispersal dynamics, and the ecological impacts of human activities such as wind farm development. He explores interactions between floral traits, pollinators, and predators to understand selection pressures and genetic structure.

Recent Contributions: Recent articles highlight studies on floral sex allocation in Polygonatum species, geographic genetic structures in Aquilegia, and the role of seed predators in shaping plant traits. His work bridges plant genetics, ecology, and conservation, with a focus on Iberian flora.
