Iza Ding is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Northwestern University. Her research focuses on modernity, environmental policy, climate change, nationalism, and ideology. She holds a BA from the University of Michigan and a PhD in Government from Harvard University.
In fall 2024, she served as a Berlin Prize Fellow at the American Academy in Berlin, and in spring 2025, she will be a visiting fellow at the Hertie School in Germany. Her work includes the book The Performative State (Cornell University Press, 2022), which examines state behavior and societal dynamics.
Her academic contributions bridge theoretical and applied political science, addressing contemporary challenges in governance and global policy.
