Ivone Pinto Ribeiro

Ivone Pinto Ribeiro serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the School of Education of Viseu, Polytechnic Institute of Viseu, Portugal, teaching French, English, and Spanish through annual appointments from 2019 to 2025.

Her educational qualifications include:

• Master's Degree in Teaching English and Spanish (University of Porto, Faculty of Arts, 2013)
• Bachelor's Degree in French English (Catholic University of Portugal, Viseu Regional Center, 2002)
• Degree in Applied Foreign Languages (Université Sorbonne Nouvelle-Paris 3, France, 1997)

Her research focuses on communicative language teaching methodologies with particular emphasis on developing oral competence in Spanish as a foreign language through visual aids, as demonstrated in her 2013 master's thesis. She actively investigates linguistic diversity challenges in language education, including Portuguese Sign Language's role in Deaf cultural identity and specialized pedagogy for Chinese speakers learning Portuguese as a foreign language.

She contributed to the May 2025 International Congress "FOREIGN LANGUAGES – LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL HERITAGE: VITALITY AND THREATS" as both organizing committee member and presenter, delivering papers on Portuguese Sign Language and linguistic diversity in Portuguese language instruction.
