Ivis Maria Menes is an Emerita Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Spanish at the University of Notre Dame. She has taught Spanish at all levels since 2000, specializing in language education, culture, and literature. Her research focuses on Hispanic Boom period writers and contemporary peninsular women writers.
Education: B.A. in Spanish Literature from Florida International University; M.A. in Spanish Literature and Linguistics from Loyola University Chicago.
Professor Menes authored the novel La ciudadela (2015), published by Lord Byron Ediciones. She received the Kaneb Award in 2006 for her contributions to undergraduate education. She coordinates intermediate Spanish courses and teaches advanced Spanish, Spanish for Business, and Spanish Civilization.
Her professional experience includes roles as a bilingual teacher in public schools and university-level instruction across multiple institutions. She has led educational initiatives to enhance language pedagogy and cultural awareness.
