About
Dr. Ivaylo Ivanov is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Georgia State University. His research focuses on computational biology approaches to understand molecular mechanisms of genome maintenance, including DNA replication, repair machinery, and gene expression regulation. The Ivanov group develops hybrid computational methods integrating cryo-EM, single-molecule spectroscopy, and SAXS data.
His research program investigates transcription pre-initiation complexes, nucleotide excision repair pathways, and transcription-coupled DNA repair mechanisms using molecular dynamics simulations and integrative modeling. Current projects examine TFIIH recruitment dynamics, pre-incision complex formation, and conformational switching in DNA repair machinery.
Dr. Ivanov has received multiple INCITE Awards for supercomputing resources and NIH R01 funding. His group maintains collaborations with experimental laboratories to validate computational models of biological assemblies.
