Ivania Delgado

Dr. Ivania Delgado serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Adjunct in Social Work, holding the position of Practicum Coordinator for the Master of Social Work (MSW) program within the Department of Educational Leadership, Counseling, and Social Work. With over 17 years of teaching experience in higher education, her work centers on liberation and critical pedagogy grounded in equity, collaboration, and trauma-informed principles.

Her educational background includes a Master of Science (MS), Master of Social Work (MSW), and Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.). Prior to transitioning to academia full-time in 2019, she provided trauma-informed mental health services in Miami-Dade County, Florida, specializing in support for foster-care youth impacted by commercial sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

Dr. Delgado's research focuses on liberation pedagogy, critical social work, and trauma-informed care, addressing systemic oppression through testimonio and community-centered approaches. Her work bridges clinical practice and academic theory to challenge inequitable structures in education and mental health systems, with particular emphasis on racial justice and healing-centered engagement.

Recent publications analyze liberating clinical assessments, the impact of restrictive legislation like Florida's Stop-Woke Act on critical thinking, and deteriorating work conditions for women in academia. Her scholarship consistently connects classroom practice to community advocacy, especially regarding human trafficking prevention and pandemic-era student support.
