Ivana Trbojević

Dr. Ivana Trbojević is a Senior Research Fellow at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, affiliated with the Institute of Botany and Botanical Garden "Jevremovac". Her research specializes in algology, focusing on charophyte taxonomy, molecular ecology, and conservation in freshwater ecosystems.

Research Focus: Dr. Trbojević investigates algal communities in periphyton, phytobenthos, and cave biofilms, emphasizing charophyte diversity, phylogeny, and habitat restoration. She pioneered molecular studies of charophytes in Serbia and explores diaspore banks for ecosystem revitalization.

Publications: Recent works (2022–2025) highlight taxonomic revisions of charophytes, UAV-based wetland conservation, and algal diversity in Serbian Ramsar sites. Trends include integrating molecular tools with traditional taxonomy and advancing conservation methodologies for shallow aquatic ecosystems.
