Ivana Lukáč Labancová

Mgr. Ivana Lukáč Labancová, PhD is a faculty member at the Department of Slovak History within the Faculty of Arts at Comenius University in Bratislava. She specializes in early modern historical research with particular expertise in religious texts and digital humanities methodologies, focusing on Franciscan preaching traditions in Central Europe.

Dr. Lukáč Labancová completed her doctoral studies in Slovak history in 2022 at Comenius University with a dissertation on 'Multilingualism in the Franciscan Preaching of the 18th Century,' subsequently published in the Monumenta Lingua Slovacae edition. She earned her Master's degree in History and Slovak Language and Literature Teaching between 2012-2017 at the same institution, where she received the prestigious Rector's Award for her excellent diploma thesis titled 'Franciscan Sermons from the Archive of the Minorites in Levoča.'

Her research program centers on early modern sermons, digital humanities applications in historical research, and religious orders, with specific attention to linguistic diversity in 18th century Franciscan preaching across Upper Hungary (eastern Slovakia). She employs computational methods to analyze historical religious texts, bridging traditional archival scholarship with contemporary digital methodologies to illuminate Central European religious and cultural history.
