Ivan Sammut

Professor Ivan Sammut is an Associate Professor in European & Comparative Law at the University of Malta's Faculty of Laws. He holds concurrent roles as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Laws and Head of the Department of European & Comparative Law. He is also an Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS) under the School of Advanced Study in London, effective from October 2022.

His educational background includes a B.A. and LL.D. from the University of Malta, an M.Jur. from the same institution, an M.A. from the University of Birmingham, an LL.M. from Bruges, and a Ph.D. from the University of London. His research focuses on European law frameworks, comparative legal systems, and foundational legal theory.

Prof. Sammut's professional contributions span academic leadership roles, legal curriculum development, and institutional collaboration through his affiliation with IALS. His work bridges Maltese legal practices with broader European legal harmonization efforts.
