Ivan Murray Mas is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). He holds a PhD in Geography from UIB and an MSc in Environmental Sustainability from the University of Edinburgh. Since 2002, he has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Geography, Tourism, Economics, Hotel Management, and Primary Education, focusing on subjects like Geography of Tourism, Sustainable Tourism, and Spatial Analysis. He is a member of the GIST (Sustainability and Territory) and GINTrans2 (Socioecological Transitions) research groups. His research explores critical geography perspectives, analyzing tourism capitalism, socioecological crises, and sustainability, particularly in coastal destinations. Current projects include investigating overtourism and degrowth strategies in Spanish coastal areas.
