Ivan Buffa

Assoc. Prof. Ivan Buffa is an Associate Professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU), specifically within the Faculty of Music and Dance's Department of Composition and Conducting. He teaches Composition, Instrumentation, and Exercises in Harmony and Polyphony. His academic background includes a composition degree from VŠMU (2005) and the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (2006), followed by a doctoral dissertation on Piano work at the turn of the century from the composer's perspective (2008).

Prof. Buffa's artistic collaborations span renowned institutions like the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Slovak Philharmonic, and Ensemble Reconsil Wien, alongside artists such as Toshio Hosokawa and Kaija Saariaho. His research interests focus on composition, contemporary music practices, and instrumental techniques. He actively contributes to new music through publishing and artistic projects with organizations like Hevhetia and Pavlik Records.
