Isra Ali is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Media, Culture, and Communication at NYU's Steinhardt School. As a feminist media scholar, her research examines war on terror militarism, focusing on feminist discourse mobilization and its impact on transnational alliances with women in Muslim communities. Her work analyzes gender, sexuality, and media production in Afghan war zones and explores digital advocacy by female military personnel.
She received her PhD in Media Studies from Rutgers University with a certificate in Women's and Gender Studies, an MA from The New School, and a BA from the University of Kansas.
Her publication 'Feminism, Advocacy, the Military and Online Discourse in the War on Terror' appeared in Democratic Communique, and she was awarded the Louis Bevier Dissertation Fellowship.
