Islam Abohela

Dr. Islam Abohela is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for the BArch (Hons) Architecture Program at Staffordshire University's School of Digital, Tech, Innovation & Business. He holds a PhD in Architecture from Newcastle University and has over 20 years of academic experience across Egypt, the UK, Turkey, and Bahrain, spanning roles from Tutor to Head of Department. His research focuses on building physics, energy efficiency, urban wind turbines, and the intersection of science fiction films with architectural design. A Senior Fellow of the HEA, he emphasizes pedagogical innovation and has secured £1.77 million in research grants. His industry experience includes architectural design, construction supervision, and BIM consulting.

Education: PhD (Newcastle University), MSc and BSc (Ain Shams University, Cairo). Professional memberships include the Society of Building Science Educators (SBSE), International Building Performance and Simulation Association (IBPSA), and Egyptian Engineers Syndicate.

Research Interests: Urban wind energy systems, CFD applications in built environments, sustainable architecture, and the representation of energy and urban futures in science fiction. Recent work explores how films like Blade Runner and Metropolis shape architectural discourse on sustainability and technology.
