About
Dr. Ishwar Kumar C. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK), specializing in petrology and tectonics. His research focuses on Archean crustal evolution, shear zone tectonics, and the paleogeography of Eastern Gondwana, particularly the geological correlations between India and Madagascar.
He earned his PhD in 2015 from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, with a thesis on Mesoproterozoic suturing of Archean crustal blocks in western India. His academic journey includes multiple research roles at IISc and a DST-SERB National Post-Doctoral Fellowship at IIST Thiruvananthapuram.
His research integrates field geology, remote sensing, geochemistry, and geochronology to study crustal processes. He teaches courses such as Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology, Economic Geology, and Geological Remote Sensing and GIS.
Dr. Ishwar has received several awards, including the NPDF from DST-SERB and a gold medal for his M.Sc. performance. His work is widely published in leading journals, with a focus on Precambrian geology, tectonics, and crustal evolution.
