Isabelle van Keulen is a Professor of Violin, Viola, and Chamber Music at the Lucerne School of Music (HSLU), part of the Hochschule Luzern. She also serves as Artistic Director of the Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss am Rhein since 2019 and previously directed the Delft Chamber Music Festival and the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. Born in the Netherlands, she began violin studies at age six, later training at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam and with Sandor Vegh at the Salzburg Mozarteum. Her career spans solo performances with renowned orchestras like the Berlin Philharmonic and collaborations with leading artists such as Leif Ove Andsnes and Gidon Kremer.
Her research interests focus on chamber music and contemporary works, reflected in her ensemble, the Isabelle van Keulen Ensemble, dedicated to Astor Piazzolla’s Tango Nuevo. Notable awards include a Platinum award for the CD box 'Aangenaam Klassiek 2014.' She has recorded extensively, with CDs like Grand Tango! and Angeles y diablos receiving critical acclaim. Teaching and mentorship roles include professorship and summer academy engagements, emphasizing artistic versatility and contemporary repertoire.
